To support and assist their living skills, and ability to effortlessly move into fully independent living whilst supporting them to achieve their own aspirations and ambitions through education, training, and lifelong learning


ABOUT US

Scully Homes Ltd Supported Accommodation was established in 2023 to provide support for looked after young people aged 16 years and over, as well as unaccompanied asylum. We work in partnership with North East Local Authorities 





 

REFERRAL AND PLACEMENT PROCESS

All referral are made via email to our Placements Manager at scully@scullyhomes.org
If this was initially made by phone call, this must be followed up by email together with the referral details and any additional information needed eg risk assessment
The referral must include all information including age, gender, safeguarding concerns, young persons background and life experiences 
Our Residential Manager will then assess each referral request and conduct the risk assessments on each young person’s need within two hours. We will review the accommodation availability which includes ensuring that they match with any existing young people in the home if applicable. 
The risk assessment will also include ensuring we are aware of all specific needs of the young person which includes,. Access to specific support, interpreter, disabilities ( learning of physical ), cultural and religious needs / requirements.
If we feel we are not able to meet the young person’s needs we will advise the reasons why in writing, and the referral will be closed.
We will endeavour to support them to achieve their own aspirations and ambitions through education, training, and lifelong learning; helping prepare them to develop life skills to live independently

What Do We Offer?

SUPPORTED ACCOMMODATION

At our Thornaby based Accommodation , we offer 4 fully furnished bedrooms, with fire doors with locks for privacy for the Young Persons. Each room comes with single bed, clothes rack, chest of draws, desk and chair. 

The bathrooms comes with toiletries; and the fully fitted kitchen comes complete with white goods, pots, pans, cups, glasses, cutlery, and the bare food essentials.

The lounge comes with Dining area, sofa , TV with built in wifi, Xbox and DVD player, along side Games and DVD’s.

The kitchen is large enough to offer 1:4 or 1:1 training in basic or more comprehensive cooking skills, and the house is large enough for the young persons to have personal space and also receive close supervision to enable the Staff / Support Workers to help them build up a range of skills for independence.
 

JOINT GOALS FOR THE YOUNG PERSONS

We want a service for the young person to be delivered in a timely manner which is centred upon their personal and mental needs and wellbeing within a positive equality framework. This will be in a safe and positive environment, with no judgement, prejudice, or discrimination. 
We want to encourage free speech, thoughts, to be able to teach the process of ramifications to enable them to feel respected and to make their own informed choices. 
By maintaining a positive environment in order to develop thinking and to freely express their wishes, needs and feelings in order to feel part of the community. We want to promote health and wellbeing as well as personal growth.
We will be supporting the young persons with how to develop relationships with their peers both in life, education and work environments. We also want to maintain and develop where needed positive relationships with family / carers, support circle, and friends
We will respect the young persons beliefs, religion, culture, privacy and confidentiality
We will respect and abide by their pathways plan provided and make sure that they are at the heart of our service; and have access to education, health and wellbeing networks
We also encourage the young persons feedback and thoughts on he service provided and to encourage their involvement in the decision making processes and house activities 

We will report all safeguarding alerts to the relevant authorities in a timely manner to ensure the wellbeing of the young person; and to keep a record of this. We will record and evidence outcomes achieved through our services for the young persons for all parties whilst ensuring we abide by our quality assurance model, policies and procedures.

Statement of Purpose

POLICIES AND PROCEEDURES

Scully Homes Ltd Supported Accommodation has the latest policies and procedures Ofsted approved to ensure best practice 
and legislative requirements. We review these on a regular basis to enable updates and ensure compliance with Ofsted.
A copy of our Young Peoples Handbook is also given to every new young person upon arrival at the home provided by Scully Homes Ltd Supported Accommodation
.
The handbook will contain all the key elements that the young person needs to know to ensure they can make informed decisions about their supported living placement. 
The handbook includes Scully Homes Ltd Supported Accommodation's core values, rules and procedures, and rights and 
responsibilities for young people. Our experienced support workers and / or residential manager will  take them 
through the handbook to ensure that they understand all the rules and policies.

SUPPORTING THE YOUNG PERSON

The young persons will be supported by a 24 hour team of experienced support workers with over 20 years experience. We provide: 
• Staffed 24/7 supported accommodation 
• High support staffed 24/7 supported
 accommodation
• Emergency 24hr referrals

Services offered will be based on an  assessment of the young persons needs and pathway plan provided for them by the local authority
The young persons we accommodate and support may have varying needs which may include: 
⦁    Minor Physical Disabilities
⦁    Minor Learning Disabilities
⦁    Autism
⦁    Self-harming behaviours 
⦁    Gang involvement
⦁    Attention deficit disorder
⦁    Challenging behaviour
⦁    Drug and alcohol abuse
⦁    Criminal behaviour

Scully Homes Ltd Supported accommodation can currently house a maximum of 4  young persons depending on the risk assessments as previously mentioned.
It is of a high standard and are inspected on a regular basis, no longer than monthly.

We provide 1 on-site support worker during the day / evening and 1 during night hours. We can provide additional if required.
The support workers will be on hand for the young person to assist and monitor their activities , and to support with day t
o day living requirements and development.
 

WHAT DO WE WANT?

We want to provide a safe, secure and nurturing environment for our young persons so they can achieve independence and become positive members of the our community
In order to do this we will be delivering a service where they feel safe and secured.
By teaching them to cook, clean, basic DIY, managing their finances, positive and independent thinking, we want to empower them. Give them a safe space in order to feel valued and to offer strategies that will enable them to manage difficulties, both environmental and general. 

As part of our package we offer assistance with registering with the local Surgery / Doctors,  Dentist , Opticians , Benefits, libraries, and any pathway agreed hobbies  / areas of interest such as Gym, Martial Arts, Evening Classes 
We also support the young persons with knowledge and access to public transport links

We will be delivering an outstanding service to them so they are able to improve their quality of life and be able to  sustain it, along with the their physical, emotional, mental wellbeing.
 

AGREED BASE PACKAGE / CARE PLAN

All parties working together to ensure the right package is available to the young person.
The registered manager will ensure that plans are suitable, implemented and checked and updated on a regular basis where necessary. 
By working alongside the Local Authorities representatives our support workers can support the young person with their initial care plan along with other respective key workers and other professionals involved in providing sup
port for the young person. 
This will be reviewed after on a regular basis ( no longer than 3 months ).
Each Young Person will have agreed personal goals which will be achievable

Staff will keep regular and up to date records of the development of the Young Person 
Staff will also train where necessary in the following as standard:

⦁    Personal Hygiene ( on a daily basis)
⦁    Cleaning personal space ( communal areas on a rota ) 
⦁    Ability to cook for themselves ( and for others as part of team work and rota when required)
⦁    Cleaning up after themselves after cooking / eating
⦁    Guidance to be able to budget personal funds , and savings
⦁    Guidance  on how to think of others; and to reflect on their conduct or behaviour
⦁    Guidance  on how to socialising in small or larger groups, taking into account other peoples beliefs, nationalities or religions. 
⦁    Guidance of educational courses
⦁    Guidance on Benefits information

We can other offer additional support subject to the young person’s need and package required 
 

STAFF / SUPPORT WORKERS / RESIDENTIAL MANAGER

At Scully Homes Ltd Supported Accommodation we know that for us to succeed we have to have solid foundations in place; most important is the staff. 
All our staff have enhanced, in date DBS checks, and are  fully trained with years experience of working with young people. We constantly strive for excellence and with that in mind we have training on a regular basis.
We build relationships with Authorities and their representatives; Young Persons; Families / Carers; Professionals to ensure the best outcomes for all parties concerned.

We build positive, trusting, safe working relationships with our young people in order to build on this , to engage them and motivate them so we can work together to achieve their best outcome.

All our staff are experienced to deal with situations in a professional manner; using anti-discriminatory working practices;  to participate in regular 1:1 supervision when required; regular in house meetings as well as relevant network meetings; and to provide comprehensive written/verbal information as requested. 

All our approachable staff adhere to the Ofsted policies and procedures in place at Scully Homes Ltd Supported Services; and work within an equal opportunities framework together to deliver the required services

We strive for the best outcome for our young persons and to work in harmony with both the Authorities representatives and fellow professionals by offering the best packages, assistance, staff and accommodation available.


COMPLAINTS PROCEDURES
We acknowledge that all staff, professionals and Young persons have the right to complain about the service and company, if necessary. There are no restrictions upon issues for complaint and we guarantee that no reprisal will be taken against anyone who complains. 
Any complaints will be investigated at director level and will be confidential. Email scully@Scullyhomes.org subject complaint. A written record of all complaints will be kept which includes outcomes.
